He has helped the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids expand exponentially over the past 20 years. In the beginning, he worked with the airport and airlines like Air Tran Airways to improve the offerings at the airport, bringing in new flights that would boost ticket sales.
Now the airport is undergoing a $45 million expansion after its growth period. However, Devos doesn’t believe that the growth stops here. His plan is to make Grand Rapids one of the best cities to live in, which is why he and his wife have spent so much money and time helping other businesses, as well as providing $134 million in funding to different community projets.
Devos has been leading the way in Grand Rapids since his time in Grand Action in the 1990s. It was the Grand Action that led to large parts of the town being renovated and built up so that new commerce could flood the downtown area. The challenge is part of the Advanced Study Program where students will have the unique and rare opportunity to develop activewear for the independent distributors of Herbalife Nutrition. Students in the program will be challenged and will be on teams that will design as well as build a collection of activewear that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. The students will then present their one-of-a-kind designs and production strategy to Herbalife Nutrition as well as members of FIDM. Their final challenge will be to successfully demonstrate how the merchandise will become a cohesive collection. Each student will be able to come up with their very own design.
The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is one of the very best in the world and is committed to excellence and innovation. The project is giving students the opportunity to create apparel that is inspiring and will also help the people who wear the apparel to live happier and healthier lives. Over 15 students have been selected to participate in the program, and it will run until the spring season of 2019.
This will be the 26th year that the FIDM has partnered with a brand renowned globally in order to create a design competition for students. Herbalifehas joined companies such as Nike who have inspired their students to create activewear with a message of motivation and drive. Students will research the millennial consumer and will familiarize themselves with the global marketplace. Students will also have the opportunity to travel to design hubs such as Paris and Milan as well as attend sessions with Herbalife Nutrition, and attend the company’s meeting in Houston that is held annually.
